Indian Premier League vs Pakistan Premier League: Overview
Founded by the BCCI in 2007, Indian Premier League is a T20 league in India contested between eight teams representing eight different cities/states in India. With eight franchises, each team in the IPL plays each other twice in a home-and-away robin round format. When the league stage concludes, the top four teams get qualified for the playoffs. The top two teams then play against each other, with the winner side confirming its berth in the final of the league and the losing team getting another chance to qualify for the final match in the second qualifier game. Meanwhile, the third and the fourth team play an eliminator match, and the winner from this eliminator match gets to play against the loser of the first qualifying match. The winner of the second qualifying match moves onto the finals, where the winner side is crowned as the IPL champions.
Founded in September 2015, Pakistan Super League is a T20 tournament played between six teams representing six cities in Pakistan. The PSL is played in a double round-robin format. Each team in the league plays each other twice and the top four advance to the playoffs. In the group stage of the league, two points are awarded for a win, one for a draw and none for a loss. In any playoff game with no result, a super over is used to determine the winner of the game. If the result of the super over is a tie, then the team which has finished in the highest league position at the end of regular-season wins the game.
