India opener Abhishek Sharma achieved a remarkable milestone by scoring his maiden T20I century in just his second match against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on Sunday, July 7th. After India won the toss, Abhishek started cautiously following Shubman Gill’s dismissal, reaching his half-century in 33 balls.

Earlier, Abhishek had begun with a disappointing duck in the first T20I, where India lost by 13 runs. However, in the second match, he bounced back strongly, partnering with Ruturaj Gaikwad to stabilize the innings. Abhishek’s innings featured a powerful start with a six off off-spinner Brian Bennett and a fortunate escape when dropped on 24 by Wellington Masakadza.

The highlight came in the 11th over when he aggressively scored 26 runs off medium-pacer Dion Myers, including three fours and two sixes. Abhishek Sharma swiftly doubled his score, achieving the fastest T20I hundred by an Indian debutant, surpassing Deepak Hooda’s record set in his third innings against Ireland. He reached the milestone with three consecutive sixes off Masakadza but was caught at backward point off and dismissed in the next delivery. Abhishek’s rapid century came off just 46 balls.
