
Afghanistan have confirmed a 17-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025, scheduled in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to 28. Experienced spinner Rashid Khan will lead the side. Key players such as Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi and Fazalhaq Farooqi have been included after their strong run in white-ball cricket last year. Ibrahim Zadran, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Gulbadin Naib and Noor Ahmad also add strength across departments.

Afghanistan are placed in Group B alongside Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Hong Kong. They will face Hong Kong, China in their opening match of the tournament on September 9.
Before beginning their Asia Cup campaign, they will feature in a T20I tri-series against Pakistan and hosts UAE. Notably, the side has played very little T20 cricket in the last year. Their only series during this period came in December 2024, when they toured Zimbabwe. Afghanistan won that three-match series 2-1
Wafiullah Tarakhil, Nangyal Kharote and Abdullah Ahmadzai are named as reserves.
