Alyssa Healy has been recovering from a calf strain ahead of the crucial India vs Australia semi-final in the Women’s World Cup.
Australia Women completed their group stage on a dominant note but without their skipper Alyssa Healy leading the charge. The Australian star missed two consecutive matches after suffering a calf strain during a training session following the clash against Bangladesh.
In her absence, all-rounder Tahlia McGrath has been captaining the side, guiding Australia to convincing victories against both England Women and South Africa Women.

AUS-W Coach Have Big Hope For Healy
Healy has been sidelined since October 22 and is yet to recover fully from her injury. Following Australia’s win over South Africa, head coach Shelley Nitschke provided an important update on Healy’s fitness in the post-match press conference.
“Obviously she wasn’t quite up to it tonight, but she’ll continue to be assessed. We’re really hopeful for the semi, but there are still a few days to play out before that. We’re hopeful again, and she’ll just continue to be assessed the closer we get to the game,” Australia head coach Shelley Nitschke said during the press conference.
Australia’s next match will be a crucial semi-final against India on October 30 at the D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Nitschke mentioned that the final decision on Healy’s participation would be made only a few days before the game, keeping her chances of returning at 50-50.

Healy’s impact for Australia in the Women’s World Cup
Alyssa Healy has been in sensational form this World Cup, especially in her last two appearances against India and Bangladesh, where she scored back-to-back centuries — 142 against India and 113 against Bangladesh. Her consistency at the top order has been crucial in providing Australia with strong starts and setting up match-winning totals.
In Healy’s absence, Georgia Voll and Phoebe Litchfield have opened the innings for Australia. However, the side suffered early batting collapses in both games, losing wickets within the first three overs on each occasion.
The Australian camp will be eagerly awaiting Healy’s recovery, as her presence could make a decisive difference in the high-stakes semi-final clash against India.
