According to reports from The Indian Express, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, absent from T20 Internationals since the 2022 World Cup, have communicated their availability to the BCCI for the upcoming T20 games.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have expressed their readiness for T20 International selection to the BCCI, despite their absence from T20 games since the 2022 T20 World Cup, as reported by The Indian Express.
The impending selection committee meeting aims to finalize the squad for three T20 games versus Afghanistan and the initial two Tests against England. Scheduled from January 11, the Afghanistan series serves as a prelude to the five-match Test series beginning on January 25.
Notably, India will solely engage in three T20 Internationals against Afghanistan before the World Cup in June. However, the unavailability of Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav due to injuries necessitates the selection of a new T20 captain.
The selection committee is also considering resting pace bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah for the forthcoming matches against Afghanistan, following their pivotal roles in India’s recent victory over South Africa in Cape Town. Reports indicate that the duo will focus on the Test series against England to ensure they are in optimal condition for the extensive home series.
Three selectors, SS Das, Salil Ankola, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, are currently in Cape Town overseeing the situation.
