Anil Kumble praised Virat Kohli’s outstanding IPL form and expressed hope that Kohli maintains it for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble lauded Virat Kohli’s excellent form and expressed his belief that Kohli can carry his hot streak into the upcoming T20 World Cup. Kohli’s impressive knock of 92 runs off just 47 balls, coupled with a strong bowling performance from RCB, secured a convincing 60-run victory over PBKS in the IPL. This win marked RCB’s fourth consecutive victory after a series of earlier losses.
Batting first, RCB set a formidable target of 241 runs for PBKS. Kohli’s innings, laced with seven boundaries and six sixes at a blistering strike rate of nearly 200, were a key factor in achieving this total. This knock also propelled him past the 600-run mark in IPL 2024.
“He’s been in outstanding form. He had a break coming into this IPL, and since then, he’s been relentless in his pursuit of excellence. You could see that. He’s at the top of the scoring table with 634 runs, and I’m sure for RCB, you would want him to win the next two games and hopefully qualify. But for India’s sake, you’d want his form to continue in the World Cup as well,” said Kumble on JioCinema.

Kohli quipped about his knock against RCB, hinting at his vision for the World Cup. In the post-match interview, Kohli acknowledged the importance of quality over quantity in his batting approach. He explained his strategy elaborately. “For me, it’s still quality over quantity. For me, it works really well. Also, understanding the game allows you to practice less; just try to replicate what I have done in the past. You are still aiming to improve aspects of the game that you want to get better at. It’s an evolving process,” said Kohli.
The star batter of RCB will be next seen at the Chinnaswamy Stadium for RCB’s next outing against the Delhi Capitals on May 12th.
