Arshdeep Singh credited Jasprit Bumrah for shaping his bowling approach and revealed his admiration for Wasim Akram’s yorker mastery.
India pacer Arshdeep Singh has credited senior speedster Jasprit Bumrah for the way he has been bowling in recent months. Arshdeep, who is currently India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is, shared insights into his growth as a bowler and revealed how Bumrah’s precision and consistency have played a key role in shaping his approach.
The left-arm pacer has formed a successful partnership with Bumrah, especially during the T20 World Cup 2024, where both bowlers played crucial roles in India’s title-winning campaign.
Arshdeep also humorously praised Bumrah’s ability to deliver yorkers at will. “So the vending machine or whatever the highest level is, it goes to Jassi (Jasprit Bumrah) bhai. That goes to him. After that yes, if you press the yorker button in such a vending machine if the ball falls somewhere close, if the batter gets out or does not go for a six, then yes, you can put me in that. So all the credit goes to Jassie bhai for the way I bowl,” he said on Breakfast with Champions.

He also opened up about his admiration for former Pakistan legend Wasim Akram, whose bowling videos continue to inspire him. “All left-arm pacers that are there on YouTube, I don’t think I’ve missed anyone’s video yet. If I used to watch yorkers, I really liked Wasim Akram’s compilation video. In all the videos, he was hitting only the stumps. A lefty throwing these in-swings in reverse swing to a righty, I used to enjoy it a lot,” he added.
Arshdeep recently showcased his nerves of steel in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Over against Sri Lanka, conceding just two runs while taking two wickets. His impressive record makes him the only Indian bowler with more than 100 wickets in T20Is, underlining his growing stature in the shortest format.
The 25-year-old pacer is also coming off a strong outing for India A, where he claimed 3 for 38 in 10 overs during the third unofficial ODI against Australia A in Kanpur on October 5.
With his consistent performances and composed mindset, Arshdeep continues to strengthen his position as one of India’s key assets in white-ball cricket.
