Arshdeep Singh has praised Jasprit Bumrah ahead of India’s five-Test series against England. The left-arm pacer, who received his maiden Test call-up, said Bumrah’s presence makes comparisons pointless. While Arshdeep has often played alongside Bumrah in white-ball formats, including the 2024 T20 World Cup, this is their first match together in the Test setup.
Arshdeep stated that he remains confident with the ball but focuses on complementing his teammates. Rather than compete, his aim is to contribute to the team and grow with Bumrah’s guidance.
“Whenever I hold the ball, I always feel that I am the best. But everyone knows—when you’re in an attack that includes a player named Jasprit Bumrah, then the word ‘comparison’ doesn’t even exist. So, the focus is on how we can improve each other’s game, each other’s skill sets—and how we can help the team. That’s where my focus lies,” he told bcci.tv.
Arshdeep Singh Impressed by India’s New Test Batters
Arshdeep Singh also shared his experience bowling to India’s new-look Test batting unit during the early practice sessions. The pacer observed that the batters looked technically solid and made the bowlers work hard. He then highlighted Sai Sudarshan’s strong start in his first Test camp and praised Shubman Gill’s form in the nets.
“It was fun bowling to the batters. They looked quite compact, and there was a competitive spirit—even though we were just working on rhythm, they were fully competing. So that made it even more fun,” he said.
“We had to grind properly and try to get them out with a solid plan. Sai has joined the team for the first time, and he looked very compact too. The skipper looked in good touch. I’ll try my best to keep improving and get them out more often going ahead,” Arshdeep concluded.
