Australia has announced a 15-player squad for the Champions Trophy, starting February 19, across Pakistan and the UAE. All-rounders Matt Short and Aaron Hardie received their first call-ups for an ICC event, while Nathan Ellis earned a spot following an impressive Big Bash League season.

The squad sees three changes from the World Cup-winning lineup 14 months ago, with David Warner retiring, Cameron Green sidelined due to back surgery, and Sean Abbott omitted. Jake Fraser-McGurk missed out after struggling for form this season.

Josh Hazlewood returns after a calf injury, while Mitch Marsh rejoins the side after missing out on the Sri Lanka Tests.

However, Australia’s Champions Trophy preparations include uncertainties, with Pat Cummins leading the squad despite an ongoing ankle issue. Cummins is set to skip the Sri Lanka Test tour to stay home for the birth of his second child. The ICC requires all teams to finalize their 15-player squads by February 12, though changes are allowed until February 18 with ICC approval needed thereafter.

Australia, placed in Group B alongside Afghanistan, England, and South Africa, will play round-robin matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi. The same squad will face Sri Lanka in a single ODI in Hambantota on February 15, serving as their only warm-up before the tournament opener against England on February 22.
