Australia recently updated their 15-man squad with Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matthew Short as travelling reserves for the T20 World Cup.
Australia has announced its final 15-man squad and travelling reserves for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA. The playing squad remains unchanged from the preliminary list, with Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matt Short joining the team as reserves.
This confirmed the absence of veteran batter Steve Smith and bowlers Jason Behrendorff and Tanveer Sangha from the main squad. Mitchell Marsh will lead the team, following his official appointment as full-time T20I captain earlier this month.
The Australian team and staff will arrive in the West Indies gradually, with players currently competing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) joining the group later after some time at home.
Chair of selectors George Bailey explained the inclusion of Fraser-McGurk and Short, highlighting their potential as valuable backups in case of injuries during the tournament.

“The tight schedule with short breaks between matches makes it difficult to bring in replacements quickly. Matt offers all-round capabilities, while Jake provides additional batting depth. Both players possess exciting talent and could contribute if needed. Regardless, this experience will be crucial for their development at the international level,” Bailey explained.
Australia’s World Cup campaign kicks off on June 6th against Oman in Barbados. They will then face England, Namibia, and Scotland in Group B matches.
Australia squad: Mitchell Marsh (c), Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa
Travelling Reserves: Jake Fraser-McGurk, Matt Short.
