Axar Patel disclosed that Delhi Capitals’ skipper Rishabh Pant expressed frustration over his suspension before their crucial IPL 2024 encounter against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Ahead of the IPL 2024 clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals faced a setback as their captain, Rishabh Pant, was suspended for one match. Stand-in skipper Axar Patel revealed Pant’s frustration during the toss in Bengaluru, where he expressed disappointment over the suspension.
The Capitals’ management had appealed against the decision, but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful. Despite Pant’s absence, Axar won the toss and elected to bowl first, emphasizing the favorable chasing conditions at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Pant remained on the ground to motivate the team, while Kushagra replaced him in the lineup. Additionally, Rasikh Dhar was included in the squad.

“Will bowl first. Bangalore’s wicket is always good. It’s a chasing ground. When we start well, we dominate the game. Rishabh was angry and had appealed as well against the suspension. He’s on the ground here, motivating the team. Kushagra comes in for Rishabh. Rasikh Dhar is in,” Axar said.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals’ head coach Ricky Ponting had expressed confidence in stand-in captain Axar Patel, highlighting his experience both in the IPL and international cricket. Ponting praised Patel’s leadership qualities, noting his tenure as vice-captain and his deep understanding of the game.
The Delhi Capitals and the Royal Challengers are meeting for the first time, with the latter maintaining their winning combination from their four consecutive victories. With both teams vying for a playoff spot, the Capitals will aim to bounce back from Pant’s suspension and secure a vital victory against RCB.
