Babar Azam chose not to disclose details but acknowledged the value of conversations with Virat Kohli, emphasizing their ongoing communication whenever their teams face each other.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, acknowledging the camaraderie between him and Virat Kohli, spoke about their supportive exchanges during tough times, reminiscent of Azam’s encouraging tweet to Kohli during his rough patch in 2022. Despite maintaining confidentiality on the specifics of their conversations, Azam highlighted the value of Kohli’s advice, emphasizing his proactive approach to seeking guidance from top players like Kohli, Steve Smith, and Kane Williamson during matches against their respective teams.
Azam’s admission came in an interview with Zalmi TV, where he also reflected on his lean performance post-World Cup 2023, despite stitching together a series of half-centuries against New Zealand in T20Is.
“I always try and talk to him (Kohli) whenever we play against each other. I always ask him a few questions and he helps me with it. Not only him, I also talk a lot to Steve Smith and Kane Williamson, when we play against Australia and New Zealand, respectively. I had a good chat with Virat Kohli, there are things that we talk about that I can’t share here but it was fruitful,” said Babar.
