Sanjay Bangar expressed confidence in Virat Kohli ending his slump, citing a change in venue and Kohli’s historical World Cup performances.
Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Bangar believes Virat Kohli will overcome his recent struggles after Team India’s relocation from New York to Florida for the remainder of the T20 World Cup.
Bangar attributed Virat Kohli’s dip in form to the challenging pitch conditions in New York. “It’s true that Virat Kohli hasn’t scored well in New York, but none of the other batsmen have either. The surface is tricky, and I believe a big score from him is just around the corner,” Bangar said on Star Sports.
Virat Kohli has managed scores of only 1, 4, and 0 in his first three outings during the group stage at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. This underwhelming performance comes after Kohli’s dominant showing in the previous edition of the tournament, where he emerged as the highest run-scorer.
However, Bangar expressed confidence in Kohli’s ability to bounce back, highlighting his past success in World Cup events. “He’s a player who thrives in these tournaments. Once we move to the next phase, his competitive spirit will kick in, and he’ll start delivering for the team again,” Bangar added.

Bangar also commended the knock by Suryakumar Yadav, who played a crucial role in the win against USA with an unbeaten 49-run knock. “The way Suryakumar Yadav displayed composure and anchored the chase was excellent. He provided much-needed stability in the middle overs,” Bangar explained.
He further praised India’s bowling attack for their collective effort in restricting Pakistan to a modest total of 119 runs, which India comfortably chased down. “The bowlers are all fulfilling their roles and complementing each other. When you have teammates putting pressure on the batters from the other end, it benefits the entire team,” Bangar concluded.
