In an edge-of-the-seat T20 World Cup match, Bangladesh won over Sri Lanka by 2 wickets with six balls to spare.

Despite a shaky start, where they lost early wickets to Dhananjaya de Silva and Nuwan Thushara, Bangladesh managed to stabilize their innings. Thushara’s lethal bowling sent back Soumya Sarkar(3), Tanzid Hasan(0), and Najmul Hossain Shanto(7), putting Bangladesh in a difficult position.

However, the Sri Lankan bowlers struggled to maintain pressure, delivering loose balls and conceding extras. Wanindu Hasaranga managed to take the crucial wickets of Towhid Hridoy(40) and Litton Das(36), but by then, the Bangladeshi batters had inflicted significant damage.

Matheesha Pathirana’s brilliant catch off Maheesh Theekshana to dismiss Shakib Al Hasan(8) momentarily boosted their confidence. Thushara struck again at a critical moment, removing Rishad Hossain and Taskin Ahmed. Despite these efforts, Mahmadullah’s(16*) steady presence at the crease secured Bangladesh’s 2-wicket win as they chased down 124 with 6 balls to spare.

In the first innings, Sri Lanka started their batting strong, attacking the bowlers early. However, Bangladesh bounced back after the powerplay, tightening their grip with disciplined bowling and excellent catching. They managed to restrict Sri Lanka to a low score of 124, thanks to standout performances by Rishad Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman, who each took 3 wickets. Pathum Nissanka was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with 47 runs. Sri Lanka, now having lost both their games, must improve their performance, especially in batting, to stay in contention in the tournament.
