After reported discussions, the BCCI finally announced the rescheduling of the KKR vs. RR and GT vs. DC matches on April 16th and 17th respectively due to unavoidable circumstances.
In a recent development, the matches between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC) have been rescheduled as announced by the BCCI.
“The fixture between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals, which was earlier scheduled to take place on April 17, 2024, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, will now be played a day prior on April 16, 2024. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was earlier scheduled to host the match between the Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals on April 16, 2024. The fixture will now be played on April 17, 2024,” read the statement released by BCCI.
Earlier, the IPL match between KKR and RR, originally scheduled for April 17th, was reported to be facing potential rescheduling or relocation due to security concerns arising from the overlapping Rama Navami festival and general elections in India.
Reportedly, the BCCI discussed the rescheduling with the Kolkata Police, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), and representatives from both franchises and broadcasters. “The discussions are on with the police authorities, and we will take a decision soon,” said a top IPL official, as quoted by Cricbuzz, before BCCI released the official statement.
The BCCI’s decision to reschedule the matches ensured a smooth flow of the IPL season while accommodating the unavoidable security concerns in Kolkata. Hence, offering fans the opportunity to witness these high-voltage matches without any disruptions.
