BCCI Secretary Jay Shah awarded financial rewards to IPL groundsmen and curators in recognition of their contribution to the successful season.
Following the Kolkata Knight Riders’ victory in the 2024 IPL season, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced financial rewards for the groundsmen and curators who prepared the pitches for the tournament.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Shah expressed his appreciation for these “unsung heroes” and revealed significant financial rewards. Groundsmen and curators at the ten regular IPL venues will receive Rs 25 lakh each, while those at the three additional venues will receive Rs 10 lakh each.
“The incredible ground staff who worked tirelessly to provide brilliant pitches, even in difficult weather conditions, are the unsung heroes of our successful T20 season. As a token of our appreciation, the groundsmen and curators at the ten regular IPL venues will receive INR 25 lakhs each, and the same at the three additional venues will get INR 10 lakhs each. Thank you for your dedication and hard work!” wrote Shah on Twitter
This recognition follows a similar gesture by Shah in September 2023. As President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) at the time, he announced a USD 50,000 cash reward for the pitch curators and groundsmen who maintained the pitches in Kandy and Colombo during the rain-disrupted Asia Cup 2023.
