Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were included in the BCCI’s High Performance Monitoring Programme after being dropped from central contracts.
Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan have been offered a chance to redeem themselves after being omitted from the BCCI’s central contracts list earlier this year. The duo will be part of the National Cricket Academy’s (NCA) High Performance Monitoring Programme for the 2024–25 domestic season.
As in the talks, this inclusion came after Iyer led the Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL 2024 playoffs, showcasing his talent. While Kishan’s Mumbai Indians did not qualify for the playoffs, his performance is still being monitored.
A source within the BCCI clarified, “The BCCI, or the national selection committee, has nothing against Iyer and Kishan. If they improve their attitude towards domestic cricket and turn out for their state teams (Mumbai and Jharkhand) in the forthcoming domestic season, there’s every chance that their central contracts will be restored and they will be recalled to the Indian team if they perform well. This is a signal to them that they are on the radar of the selectors,” as quoted by the Times of India.
This NCA programme targets players on the cusp of national selection. It includes promising youngsters like Musheer Khan, the Mumbai all-rounder who impressed in the U-19 World Cup and last season’s Ranji Trophy.
The selected players are expected to attend a month-long camp at the new NCA facility near Bengaluru under the guidance of chairman VVS Laxman. The camp’s dates are yet to be finalised.

Other notable names in the programme include pacers like Mayank Yadav, Umran Malik, and Avesh Khan, along with batsmen such as Riyan Parag, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, and Prithvi Shaw.
After some notable names, the source also remarked that they will be looking forward to sifting young talents too. “Now, the junior national selection committee will pick a set of players for the U-23 camp of those players who are yet to feature in domestic cricket,” the source informed.
