The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has arranged a chartered flight for the team and Indian journalists, who were stranded in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl. The team and journalists will land in New Delhi early in the morning.
The Indian team has a busy schedule on Thursday. After landing, they will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Following this, they will fly to Mumbai for the celebrations. In the T20 World Cup final, India chose to bat first and scored 176-7, thanks to Virat Kohli’s 76, Axar Patel’s 47, and Shivam Dube’s 27. South Africa, led by Aiden Markram, seemed set for an easy win with Heinrich Klaasen’s 52. However, India’s brilliant death-over bowling from Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya turned the game around. Hardik took 3 for 20, while Bumrah and Arshdeep each claimed two wickets.
India won the 20-nation event held in the West Indies and the USA, becoming the third team after West Indies and England to win two T20 World Cups and the first to do so unbeaten.
