The BCCI revealed the Indian squad for the final three Tests against England, with notable absences including Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer.
On Saturday, the BCCI unveiled India’s squad for the upcoming three Tests against England. Notably, Virat Kohli was absent from the selection for the Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala matches due to personal reasons, as confirmed by the BCCI.
“Virat Kohli will remain unavailable for selection for the remainder of the series due to personal reasons. The Board fully respects and supports Mr. Kohli’s decision,” the official statement read.
Shreyas Iyer, facing a downturn in form, is also absent from the upcoming three matches. With only 104 runs scored across four innings in this series and a series of underwhelming performances during the South Africa tour, his exclusion is notable.
KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja’s inclusion in the roster depends on their fitness clearance from the BCCI medical team. Pacer Mohammed Siraj also returned after being rested from the second Test.
Furthermore, Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan have been retained, with Sarfaraz anticipated to make his debut in the Rajkot Test on February 15.
The notable change saw Bengal pacer Akash Deep replacing Avesh Khan, who has been released to play in the Ranji Trophy.
India Squad for remaining 3 Tests vs England: Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul*, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja*, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep
