Bhuvneshwar Kumar reflected on the challenges faced by bowlers in T20 cricket, emphasising the struggle amid batting dominance.
According to many, T20 cricket is now a batter’s game, and veteran Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar almost remarked the same. After SRH’s narrow victory over PBKS on April 9th, Bhuvneshwar put up the harsh truth of T20 cricket and how the bowlers suffer during a batting spectacle.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been a key wicket-taker for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has previously led the SRH pace attack and might continue to be a bowling stalwart for the team. Bhuvneshwar boasts 176 IPL wickets, notably due to his accurate line and length control and swing bowling ability, which prove fatal for many of the world’s best batters.
However, during a post-match conference, the pacer commented, as quoted by the Times of India, “That is the beauty of the T20 game for the spectators, not for the bowlers,” highlighting how bowlers get bashed left and right in T20 cricket. Regarding the match against PBKS, the pacer highlighted how luck is also important alongside good bowling. “The wicket changed a lot in the last few overs; we scored runs and they scored runs as well. It was good to get a win. Everyone knows what you are going to do, but it is about doing the same thing over and over and keeping it simple. You need a bit of luck as well.”

Speaking of the match, Kumar impressed with a two-wicket scalp but conceded 32 runs during his four-over spell. SRH scored an ambitious total of 182/9, after an impressive half-century from young Nitish Reddy and late runs from Abdul Samad and Shahbaz Ahmed. In response, the hosts had a poor start to their chase, losing wickets at regular intervals and ultimately falling short of three runs.
The Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad will face each other again on May 19th in Hyderabad.
