The PCB has proposed a draft schedule for the ICC Champions Trophy, featuring an opening match in Karachi, semifinals in Karachi and Rawalpindi, and the final in Lahore.

Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), attended the T20 World Cup 2024 final in Barbados where he presented the 15-match schedule for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. According to reports, the tournament is scheduled to take place from February 19 to March 9, with March 10 kept as a reserve day.

Lahore has been designated as the venue for the high-profile India-Pakistan clash slated for March 1. The PCB has submitted a draft schedule that includes seven matches in Lahore, three in Karachi, and five in Rawalpindi. The draft groups India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand in Group A, while Group B comprises Australia, South Africa, England, and Afghanistan. The opening match and semifinals are planned for Karachi, with the final set for Lahore.

According to a report from news agency PTI, a senior ICC board member disclosed that the PCB awaits approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for its tentative schedule. All ICC Champions Trophy participating countries’ board chiefs, except BCCI, have reportedly assured their full support pending BCCI’s government consultation.

“The PCB has submitted the draft of the 15-match ICC Champions Trophy. Seven games in Lahore, three in Karachi and five in Rawalpindi,” an ICC board member said. As per the Champions Trophy draft, India are joined by Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand in Group A. Australia, South Africa, England and Afghanistan are in Group B of the Champions Trophy,” the report quoted the source as saying.

The tournament was conducted in a ‘Hybrid Model’ as India played its Asia Cup games in Sri Lanka. “All board chiefs of the ICC Champions Trophy participating countries (minus BCCI) have assured him of their complete support but BCCI will consult its government and update the ICC,” the source added.
