MS Dhoni turns a year older

Chris Gayle suggested that MS Dhoni might not play all matches for CSK in the IPL 2024 season.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) recent leadership change has sparked speculation about MS Dhoni’s playing time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Legendary West Indies batter Chris Gayle has weighed in on the situation, suggesting Dhoni might not participate in all matches.

Dhoni’s surprise decision to leave the CSK captaincy just before the season opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) raised eyebrows. While initial reports indicated the 2023 season might be Dhoni’s last, he expressed a desire to play one more year, contingent on his physical fitness.

Before, the opening match at Chepauk, Chris Gayle, the veterinary West Indies batter, hinted at the playing status of the skipper, suggesting a mid-season break. “He (MS Dhoni) might not play all games. There may be a little break in between for him. that’s why the decision. But MSD will go well; don’t worry about that,” Gayle said on Jio Cinema before the opening match of IPL 2024.

Notably, Gayle’s comments and Dhoni’s previous knee injury sparked questions regarding his availability in the team for the rest of the season. However, throughout the match against RCB, Dhoni showed remarkable agility with his sharp wicket-keeping reflexes and a crucial run-out in the final moments of RCB’s innings, showing his dedication to the game.

The former Indian skipper has played a total of 250 matches and scored 5082 runs throughout his remarkable IPL career. While there are hints that he might miss a few matches, fans can expect to see him next against the Gujarat Titans on March 26th.
