When speaking to ANI, Chris Woakes discussed Virat Kohli’s absence from the ongoing India-England Test series, expressing empathy for disappointed fans and extending well wishes to Kohli and his family. Kohli’s unexpected withdrawal from the first two Tests, followed by his continued absence due to personal reasons, has left fans and players alike missing his presence on the field.
Woakes emphasized the importance of Kohli’s well-being, hoping for his return to cricket when he feels ready.
“Obviously the fans will be disappointed. It would have been amazing to see Virat Kohli play in the series. I hope he is okay and his family is okay. I just hope whenever he comes back to cricket he will be in a good place. I think we have been very lucky to have him play in so many games,” he said.
“It’s been a great series to watch, I am sure, the guys (England Cricket Team) love playing in India—amazing place to play cricket. I think more exciting Test matches are coming up,” he added.

In the first test of the series, England clinched a remarkable victory in Hyderabad, overcoming a challenging situation to win by 28 runs. However, India bounced back strongly in the following Test in Visakhapatnam, securing a convincing 106-run win to level the series.

Looking ahead, the third Test between India and England is set to commence at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Thursday, February 15.
