In a recent interaction, Bhuvneshwar Kumar expressed his joy at Sunrisers Hyderabad reaching the IPL final and vowed to win the trophy.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad secured a convincing 36-run victory over the Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, booking their place in the much-anticipated IPL 2024 final.
Following the win, JioCinema IPL experts Anil Kumble and Shane Watson offered their analysis of the key performers. Players Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rahul Tripathi also spoke exclusively to JioCinema.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, expressing his delight at reaching the final, said, “This feels amazing, especially after missing the playoffs for three seasons. The team played with great consistency throughout the season, and reaching the final was a collective effort. We’re all determined to win the trophy now.”
Rahul Tripathi, reflecting on his performance, shared, “It was tough waiting for my chance, but I kept myself prepared to contribute whenever I got the opportunity. That focus paid off when I finally got to play.”

Former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble praised all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed, saying, “Even during his time with RCB, Shahbaz showed his cricketing sense. He batted well today and bowled exceptionally well, too. He understood the Chennai pitch and focused on bowling good-length deliveries, which proved effective. He also played a crucial role with Klaasen with the bat, helping to stabilise the innings.”
Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson, however, highlighted the importance of Hyderabad’s spin bowling. “Their spinners were exceptional, not only picking up wickets but also controlling the run rate. Their economy rate of 5.9 runs per over was fantastic. In contrast, the Rajasthan Royals’ spinners, Chahal and Ashwin, couldn’t replicate that success. The conditions in the second inning were different, but overall, the Sunrisers’ spin attack was brilliant,” concluded Watson. The Sunrisers Hyderabad will now face the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 final on May 26th.
