Ritika Sajdeh criticized Mark Boucher’s explanation for Mumbai Indians’ decision to appoint Hardik Pandya as captain for IPL 2024, suggesting there were numerous flaws in Boucher’s reasoning.
Rohit Sharma’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, expressed her dissatisfaction with head coach Mark Boucher’s rationale for Mumbai Indians appointing Hardik Pandya as captain for IPL 2024 in a cryptic Instagram comment. Sajdeh’s remark, “So many things wrong with this,” followed Boucher’s explanation on the Smash Sports podcast, where he cited freeing Rohit from captaincy duties to enhance his batting experience in future seasons as the motive.
In the podcast, Boucher explained that Mumbai Indians’ decision to appoint Hardik Pandya as captain for IPL 2024 was purely based on cricketing considerations. He emphasized the need to view the move without emotional bias, highlighting the transition phase the team was undergoing.
Boucher expressed confidence that this change would allow Rohit Sharma to focus on his batting and enjoy playing without the added pressure of captaincy responsibilities. While acknowledging Rohit’s exceptional leadership for Mumbai Indians and Team India, Boucher noted the challenges Rohit faced, including increased media scrutiny and recent batting inconsistencies.

Despite Rohit Sharma’s impressive record as the most successful captain in IPL history, having won five titles, his batting statistics have declined since 2016, lacking a 30-plus average or a 135-plus strike rate in recent seasons.
Conversely, Mark Boucher also commended Hardik Pandya’s leadership qualities, noting his success with Mumbai Indians and his ability to lead his former franchise to victory in his debut year and as a runner-up in the subsequent season. IPL 2024 is slated to commence on March 23.
