CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan expressed hope that MS Dhoni will play another IPL season, emphasizing that it is up to Dhoni and that the former skipper will announce his decision in due course.

Chennai Super Kings narrowly missed the IPL playoffs this season. Despite their setback, the team’s philosophy values the process over pure outcomes, guided by the iconic MS Dhoni. Speculation also loomed over whether this season marked the end of the 42-year-old’s career, creating suspense among fans.

In a recent interview, CSK’s CEO, Kasi Vishwanathan, emphasized that Dhoni holds the key to his future in the team, showcasing unwavering support from the management. He highlighted Dhoni’s consistent track record of making timely and wise decisions. The CEO further expressed optimism that Dhoni will hopefully continue with CSK in the upcoming season, a sentiment shared by fans.

“It is a question only MS can answer. We have always respected the decisions taken by MS. We have left it to him and as all of you know he has always taken his decisions and announced them at the appropriate time,” Viswanathan said.

“We do expect that we will get a decision as and when he decides. But we are very hopeful he’ll be available for CSK next year. That is the view and expectation of the fans and mine,” he added.

Earlier, noteworthy figures like Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, and Robin Uthappa had voiced support for Dhoni’s potential comeback next season. Uthappa expressed confidence in Dhoni’s desire to bounce back after the setbacks of this year’s IPL campaign.

However, Dhoni’s future hinges on his fitness, given his limited competitive play throughout the year. Recuperating from knee surgery last year, Dhoni’s return to IPL 2024 was marked by a persistent muscle injury, affecting his performance. Despite his remarkable power hitting, Dhoni batted lower in the order and concluded the season with 161 runs at a strong strike rate of 220. The focus will remain on Dhoni’s physical condition and determination to potentially rejoin the action in the upcoming seasons.
