The Delhi Capitals dominated LSG by 19 runs, crushing KL Rahul and Co.’s playoff dreams.
After winning the toss, the Lucknow Super Giants decided to bowl first but failed to contain DC batters. Although Jake Fraser McGurk was out for a duck, Abhishek Porel stitched a fantastic partnership with Shai Hope of 92 from 49 deliveries to boost DC’s innings. However, both of them were dismissed within the 12th over, and skipper Rishabh Pant came in with a knock of 33 off 23. It was Tristan Stubbs (57 off 25) after Pant’s fall who propelled DC’s innings to 208 in 20 overs.
In the LSG camp, Naveen ul Haq proved to be crucial with two important wickets of pan and porel. Other than him, Bishnoi and Arshad Khan picked one wicket each to limit the DC batters to a decent total.
In response, the Giants started off weak with the chase. They lost wickets in quick succession between the 1st and 8th overs. After 7.3 overs, LSG was reeling at 71-5. Nicholas Pooran, who came in at number five, knocked 61 off 27 to salvage the huge chase. After he was dismissed by Mukesh Kumar at the 12th over, Arshad Khan (58 off 33) came in to breathe into LSG’s sufferable form. However, despite his valiant knock, he failed to win it for LSG. Rasikh Salam came in at the last over to defend 23 runs off six deliveries and secured a dominating win for his team.
DC Bowler Ishant Sharma impressed with the ball, scalping three crucial wickets to dismantle LSG’s top and middle order. Besides him, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Mukesh Kumar, and Stubbs chipped in with valuable contributions to restrict the Lucknow batters from chasing the total.
