During the Zimbabwe vs Ireland 1st T20I, Sikandar Raza, Zimbabwe’s captain, and Ireland’s Curtis Campher and Josh Little violated the ICC Code of Conduct in an on-field altercation.
During the first T20I between Zimbabwe and Ireland, Zimbabwe’s captain Sikandar Raza and Ireland’s players Curtis Campher and Josh Little were penalized for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct at Harare Sports Club. Raza was fined half of his match fee and accrued two demerit points, leading to a two-match suspension for accumulating four demerit points within 24 months. Campher and Little were fined 15% of their match fees and received one demerit point each, their first in the last 24 months.
Their breaches were in contravention of Article 2.20 of the ICC Code of Conduct, addressing “conduct contrary to the spirit of the game.”
During the match, Sikandar Raza aggressively charged towards Campher and Josh Little while brandishing his bat and disregarding an umpire’s attempt to intervene. Campher also moved aggressively toward Raza, sidestepping an umpire who tried to intervene, while Little made physical contact with Raza when Raza complained about obstruction during a run.
For these actions, which breached Level 1 of the code, Campher and Little admitted their offenses and accepted the penalty proposed by match referee Andy Pycroft without a formal hearing. However, Raza admitted to the offense but disagreed with the proposed penalty. This led to a formal hearing on December 8, where the initial sanction against Raza was confirmed.
