After guiding India to a T20 World Cup win, Rahul Dravid reflected on his coaching journey and praised Rohit Sharma’s leadership and Virat Kohli’s ambition.
In a heartfelt message after India’s T20 World Cup victory, outgoing coach Rahul Dravid spoke about his rewarding experience working with captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Dravid, who witnessed Rohit’s journey from a young player to a World Cup-winning captain, expressed his admiration. “Having known Rohit since his youth, it’s been a privilege to see him mature as a leader and contribute significantly to Indian cricket over the past decade. His dedication and hard work are truly commendable,” Dravid said in a BCCI statement.
While Dravid’s coaching tenure concluded with the World Cup triumph, Rohit has announced his retirement from T20I cricket, though he remains available for Tests and ODIs.

Dravid also commented on Virat Kohli’s unwavering ambition. “Though I only had the opportunity to work with him in a few Test matches during his captaincy, Virat’s relentless pursuit of improvement is truly inspiring,” he said.
Despite a decorated playing career, Dravid never had the chance to lift a World Cup trophy. As a coach, he guided India to the finals of the 2023 ICC World Test Championship and ODI World Cup, but fell short both times. Finally, his dream of a World Cup win came true under his leadership in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa in Barbados.
