India tightened their grip on the second Test at Edgbaston by declaring at 427/6 in the final session on Day 4, setting England a massive 608-run target. Shubman Gill anchored the innings with a brilliant 161 off 162 balls, notching up his second century of the match. He had an important stand with Rishabh Pant, who scored a quick 65 from 58 balls before falling to Shoaib Bashir.
India had resumed the day with a 244-run lead and reached 177/3 by Lunch, powered by Gill and Pant’s half-centuries. KL Rahul earlier brought up his 78-ball fifty, while Karun Nair contributed 26 before being dismissed by Brydon Carse. India stood at 304/4 at Tea, extending their lead to 484 runs. The declaration came shortly after Gill’s 150 in the post-Lunch session.
