Ex-England skipper Paul Collingwood predicts India’s win against England in the T20 World Cup semi-final.
The stage is set for a highly anticipated rematch of the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final, with India facing England once again for a much-desired spot in the finals. This encounter holds particular significance as England dominated the previous encounter with a commanding 10-wicket victory.
However, former England captain Paul Collingwood believes the outcome will be different this time around, largely due to the exceptional form of Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah has been a standout performer for India throughout the tournament, claiming 11 wickets in six matches with an impressive economy rate of 4.08.
“India, with their well-rounded squad, stands out particularly for Jasprit Bumrah’s current form. He’s fit, accurate, fast, and highly skilled. No team seems to have an answer for him. In a T20 match with 120 balls, having someone like Bumrah with his pace for 24 balls makes a huge difference,” Collingwood said.

The most recent encounter between these two nations in a T20 World Cup semi-final was just 19 months ago. England’s remarkable opening partnership between Jos Buttler and Alex Hales secured a comfortable victory and forced the Men in Blue to re-evaluate their T20 strategy.
Collingwood suggested a different scenario awaits England this time around, crediting India’s strong batting lineup, particularly captain Rohit Sharma, who recently played a match-winning knock against Australia.
“India has looked confident even in tough situations and on difficult pitches. Their batters, like Rohit Sharma, who played a magnificent innings against Australia, seem to be back in form. Honestly, I can’t see India losing this time. England will need something extraordinary to beat them,” Collingwood concluded.
