Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers anticipates a charged-up Virat Kohli, expecting an intense performance and verbal exchanges during India’s South Africa tour.
Former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers is eagerly anticipating a charged-up Virat Kohli during India’s extensive tour of South Africa, comprising three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Test matches starting December 10. While Rohit Sharma and Kohli are resting from the initial white-ball segment, Suryakumar Yadav will lead in the T20Is, and KL Rahul will take the helm in the ODIs. The tour culminates in the highly awaited Gandhi-Mandela Trophy, marking Kohli and Rohit’s return for the Test series.
The Tests are scheduled in Centurion from December 26 to December 30 and in Cape Town from January 3 to January 7. When speaking to India Today, De Villiers voiced his anticipation for Kohli’s standout performance, foreseeing a spirited showcase in the series ahead.
“We will see the best of Virat. I cannot wait to see the chest out, the eye contact with the opposition, and being a bit verbal with everyone. Because he will be fired up for this series. South Africa will need to be careful. This Indian squad is pure world-class,” said De Villiers.
Kohli’s stellar performance in the ICC ODI World Cup saw him as the leading run-scorer with an outstanding 765 runs in 11 innings at a whopping average of 95.62. Despite his efforts, including a crucial half-century in the final against Australia, India fell short as Australia clinched the World Cup title.
