RCB skipper Faf du Plessis was pleased with the team’s turnaround from a shaky start, crediting their recent success to hard work and improved performances, particularly in bowling.
RCB continued their winning streak with a convincing 47-run victory over Delhi Capitals at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Skipper Faf du Plessis expressed satisfaction with the team’s turnaround after a challenging start to the season, crediting improved batting and bowling performances.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, the skipper notably highlighted the strategic decision to use left-arm spinner Swapnil against left-handed batters, which proved effective with the dismissal of David Warner. He emphasized the importance of exploiting such match-ups, showcasing the team’s tactical awareness.
“Brilliant, we put in some good performances and pleased. 1st half of the season, things didn’t quite come together and from that batting perspective and bowling perspective we have been able to put it together now. Sometimes people talk about match-ups and all, but as a left-hander with the ball spinning in, you hope that works out sometimes and he’s (Swapnil) done brilliantly for us, ” Du Plessis said.
The skipper then expressed contentment with the recent form of RCB’s bowling attack, highlighting the team’s versatility and praising bowlers Yash Dayal and Lockie Ferguson for their exceptional performances. He reiterated the team’s commitment to playing an aggressive brand of cricket and aims to maintain their momentum going forward.
“A lot of work has gone behind the scenes, and we are getting it right. I feel there is a lot more variety in our bowling now and Yash (Dayal) and Lockie (Ferguson) have been exceptional in the last few games. We want to play a style of cricket, to be bold, put some performances together and keep going,” Du Plessis added.
RCB’s recent successes have raised them into contention for a playoff spot, marking a significant improvement in their campaign. Looking ahead, RCB prepares for their final league-stage match against defending champions Chennai Super Kings at home.
