Following the Women’s Premier League 2024 auction, all five franchises have finalized their squads from a pool of 165 cricketers, comprising 104 Indian players and 61 overseas talents.
During the WPL 2024 player auction, 165 cricketers were up for grabs, including 104 Indian players and 61 overseas players from 14 countries, including 15 from associate nations. With each of the five teams having a maximum of 30 slots, nine slots were specifically allocated for overseas players. These teams had a combined purse worth INR 17.65 crore to construct their squads for the Women’s Premier League 2024.
The auction grabbed attention as Kashvee Gautam, an uncapped player, became the costliest, bagging an unprecedented bid of INR 2 crore from Gujarat Giants. Phoebe Litchfield of Australia was another standout, initiating bids and securing INR 1 crore with the Giants. Annabel Sutherland, an Australian player, also fetched INR 2 crore, signing up with the Delhi Capitals.
Notably, surprises unfolded as notable names like Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu and West Indies’ Deandra Dottin remained unsold. Indian uncapped talent Vrinda Dinesh shattered the Rs 1 crore mark, landing a notable bid of INR 1.3 crore from the UP Warriorz.
