Sourav Ganguly expressed confidence in Rohit Sharma’s form for the T20 World Cup but highlighted concerns about Hardik Pandya needing more consistent playing time.
As India gears up for the T20 World Cup, questions linger about the form of key players Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya. While Virat Kohli led the IPL in run-scoring, both Sharma and Pandya, central figures in the Mumbai Indians’ recent captaincy change, underperformed.
Sharma, though finishing the IPL with 417 runs in 14 matches, had a concerning string of low scores as an opener. Pandya, while bowling well in the latter stages, did not deliver his best overall performance with the Mumbai Indians.
Former BCCI president and Indian cricket team coach Sourav Ganguly addressed these concerns. “No, I am not worried (about Rohit) Rohit is a great of the game. Look at what he did in the 50-over World Cup. He has the quality to bounce back in a few games. He’s scored runs all over the world and has immense experience. I’m confident he will deliver,” Ganguly told Revsportz.

However, Ganguly expressed concern about Hardik Pandya’s lack of consistent playing time. “Hardik is different because he doesn’t play as much cricket, and that’s a worry. I want him to play consistently to find good form. The more he plays, the better,” added Ganguly.
Regarding the form of pacers Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh, Ganguly downplayed concerns. “The nature of IPL pitches, ground dimensions, and conditions differ from the World Cup. The pitches in the West Indies will be very different. I believe our bowlers will adjust well in the World Cup,” concluded Ganguly.
