Glenn Maxwell showed excitement over the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, predicting that the performances of Virat Kohli and Steve Smith would decide the series outcome.
With the Australian summer just weeks away, anticipation is building for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia. Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has expressed his excitement for the high-stakes series, particularly the much-anticipated clash between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith. Maxwell believes the performances of these two superstars could be key in determining which team will lift the coveted trophy.
Speaking to Star Sports, Maxwell said, “I think probably the way that the two superstar batters, Steve Smith and Virat Kohli, go head-to-head and how they assert their dominance will have a significant influence on who takes home the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. One of those two is going to make a lot of runs, if not both, and it’s going to be pretty exciting to watch two of the finest players of our generation go head-to-head.”
Both Kohli and Smith are considered part of cricket’s ‘fab four’ and have consistently made their mark in the fiercely competitive series between India and Australia. Kohli has scored 2,042 runs in 25 Test matches against Australia, averaging 47.48 with eight centuries. Meanwhile, Smith has accumulated the same number of runs (2,042) in just 19 Tests against India, boasting an impressive average of 65.87 with nine centuries.
