Harbhajan Singh emphasized MS Dhoni’s crucial role in the Chennai Super Kings, stating that Dhoni’s dedication and leadership have been vital since the IPL’s start in 2008.
As another IPL season nears its end, MS Dhoni’s future with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is once again in question. Since retiring from international cricket in 2020, Dhoni has focused solely on the IPL. Despite winning a fifth title last year and continuing this season, Dhoni has struggled with knee pain and reduced athleticism. Nevertheless, he’s provided thrilling performances, such as his explosive 20 off 4 balls against Mumbai Indians.
However, hints suggest IPL 2024 might be his last. After a recent win against Rajasthan Royals, CSK players performed a lap of honor at Chepauk, possibly signaling a farewell. Only time will tell what Dhoni’s next move will be.
On Star Sports’ Press Room show, Harbhajan Singh assured that MS Dhoni will stay with CSK, emphasizing Dhoni’s crucial role in the team.
“He’s the owner of the team. Uske marzi ke bina waha patta bhi nahi hilta (Without his will, not even a leaf moves there). It’s his team. He has given his blood, sweat and everything to this team. He will always be a part of the CSK group, whether as a mentor or as a coach. He’s everything over there,” the former cricketer said.
“You will definitely see him in the CSK dugout in the coming seasons. Maybe not as a player but in some other capacity, but he will be there with the players,” Harbhajan added.

Ambati Rayudu agreed, noting Dhoni’s deep connection to CSK. “Bhajji Paa rightly said that it’s his team. He developed the culture that’s there at present. He has been nurturing players in that franchise and he is definitely going to be there, for sure,” Rayudu said.
