Harbhajan Singh warned team India not to fall prey to their spin track play ahead of the second test match of the India vs England series.
After India’s first defeat in the England vs India test series, India is lagging in confidence. Especially with a seemingly weaker battling lineup for the upcoming matches. Harbhajan Singh, a former star spinner of the Indian Cricket team, shared his opinion for the second test against England, beginning on Friday, February 02 at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam.
Harbhajan shared on his YouTube channel that while the Indian team exhibits promising potential, its credibility looks doubtful due to the noticeable absence of experienced players. While Rohit Sharma stands as a formidable presence, the batting lineup reveals a concerning weakness.
“The team looks decent but lacks experience. Yes, there is Rohit Sharma, but the next best run-scorer is Ashwin. In terms of batting, the line-up looks weak. And if they play on a turning track, which I feel they will because they have added Washington Sundar while having Kuldeep Yadav, Ashwin and Axar Patel,” he stated.
The former spinner also stressed the importance of not accidentally providing wickets to England’s spinners rather than trapping England’s batsmen.
“India should be careful that they don’t fall into their own trap by preparing a turning track for the visitors. This batting unit is young, they need time, and if they get a good track, they might even perform well,” he added.
In the ongoing five-match test series, India, trailing 0-1, grapples with the absence of Virat Kohli for the second test match as well. Statistically, the collective runs of India’s second test squad fall even short of England’s Joe Root, who boasts 11,447 runs. With India’s total at 10,702 runs, a formidable challenge looms for Rohit Sharma’s squad as England gains confidence from their initial victory.
