Simon Doull has raised concerns about Mumbai Indians’ captain Hardik Pandya, suggesting that despite his denial, Doull believes Pandya is injured.
Ahead of their crucial IPL clash against Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians are confronted with a worrisome situation. Simon Doull, former New Zealand pacer, has stirred the pot by suggesting that Hardik Pandya, MI’s skipper, is grappling with an undisclosed injury. Doull’s assertion stems from Pandya’s erratic bowling performances in the tournament.
Despite kicking off the season by opening the bowling and claiming only one wicket in the first two matches, Pandya has notably refrained from bowling in subsequent games.
“You go out and make a statement by opening the bowling in-game no. 1, and suddenly, you are not required. He’s injured. I’m telling you there is something wrong with him. He is not admitting it. But there is something wrong with him for sure. That is my gut feeling,” Doull said to Cricbuzz.
Pandya’s decision to refrain from bowling in the match against Delhi Capitals had already sparked speculation, with the skipper assuring that he would bowl “at the right time.” However, Doull’s comments hint at a deeper narrative behind his bowling absence.
Pandya’s fitness and availability hold significant weight, potentially influencing the match’s outcome as the defending champions aim for redemption against CSK after a rocky start. As the T20 World Cup 2024 looms closer, an extended absence for the MI skipper could also hinder his preparation for the prestigious tournament in June.
