Harsha Bhogle revealed his IPL 2024 dream team, featuring a strong batting lineup with four overseas players, including a trio of West Indian batters.
Veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle recently revealed his picks for the best IPL 2024 playing XI. The team featured a strong batting lineup with four overseas players, three of them from the West Indies.
Leading the charge at the top are the in-form Virat Kohli and the ever-reliable Sunil Narine. Kohli dominated the tournament with the bat, securing the Orange Cap for the second time in his career with a staggering 741 runs at an average of 61.75.
Sunil Narine, on the other hand, proved his all-round value by not only scoring 488 runs but also claiming 17 wickets. This consistent performance was crucial in helping the Kolkata Knight Riders clinch their third IPL title, with Narine rightfully bagging the Most Valuable Player award for the third time.
The middle class boasted a mix of experience and youthful energy. Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag, the dynamic duo from the Rajasthan Royals, piled on the runs, scoring 573 and 531 runs, respectively, propelling their team to the Qualifier 2 stage.
Nicholas Pooran enjoyed his best IPL season yet, amassing a remarkable 499 runs at a blistering strike rate of 178.21. KKR’s Andre Russell, while not replicating his usual batting exploits, remained a force with the ball, picking up 19 crucial wickets at an impressive average of 15.53.
Dinesh Karthik redeemed himself after a disappointing IPL 2023 season. The wicketkeeper-batter turned back the clock with a strong showing, scoring 326 runs at a rapid strike rate of 187.36.
The bowling attack boasted a lethal combination of pace and spin. Jasprit Bumrah leads the way with 20 wickets in just 13 matches, boasting the second-best average (16.80) in the tournament. Varun Chakaravarthy (21) and Harshal Patel (24) were the only bowlers with more wickets than Bumrah this season.
Trent Boult, despite not having his best season, found a place in Bhogle’s XI with 16 wickets from 16 matches. Rounding out the bowling attack is Sunrisers Hyderabad’s T Natarajan, who had a phenomenal season, claiming 19 wickets at an average of 24.47.
