Hardik Pandya has not been performing well with the ball in IPL 2024, and former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist has weighed in regarding the MI skipper’s fitness concerns.
Hardik Pandya has recently been at the centre of discussions regarding his stint as MI skipper and the criticism he is receiving from the crowd. However, his recent performances have also raised questions regarding his fitness. Cricketing legend Adam Gilchrist has lately opined on Pandya’s condition and felt that he is probably not at his full potential.
Speaking to Cricbuzz, Gilchrist said that Pandya was putting in a lot of effort to cope with the ball, and it was visible in his bowling performance. “I am captain; I am going to have a crack, but then he looks proppy; as we use in Australian sporting terms, you are not quite fluent. He does not look anywhere near 100 percent fit with the ball in hand, and if there is any doubt about his physicality, his bowling was scattered,” Gilchrist said.
However, Gilchrist was happy that he looked positive enough to take on the challenge with the ball. “The only positive about Hardik Pandya and his bowling was that he was prepared to take on the challenge,” remarked the 52-year-old.
