Yash Dayal stayed calm under pressure and focused on executing his deliveries, helping RCB defend 15 runs in the final over against CSK.
Yash Dayal delivered another composed final over as Royal Challengers Bengaluru edged past Chennai Super Kings by 2 runs. With 15 needed off six balls, Dayal kept his focus on execution instead of targeting wickets, despite facing experienced finishers MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. CSK could manage just three singles in the first three balls, putting pressure on the chase. Dayal removed Dhoni with a sharp yorker, his second successful last-over finish against CSK in two seasons.
Speaking after the match, Dayal highlighted his familiarity with similar pressure situations as key to holding his nerve. Dhoni’s dismissal proved crucial, as CSK fell short of the 214-run target, finishing at 211/5.
“At that moment, my mind was only focused on how I should execute the next ball. Since I had done it before, there was confidence in my mind that, yes, I can do it. There wasn’t much difference between last year’s wicket and this year’s wicket,” Yash said while speaking to IPL.
“Last time it was caught out, and this time it was LBW on a yorker. The only thing was that I had to execute properly. I had no intention of taking a wicket. I just happened to get it, that was the lucky part for me,” he added.
