Rohit Sharma will lead the team in the upcoming 3-match T20I series against Afghanistan, marking the return of both Rohit and Virat Kohli to the T20I squad after their absence since the T20 World Cup.
The BCCI revealed India’s squad for the 3-match T20I series against Afghanistan, marking the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the lineup. Both players haven’t participated in any international T20 games since the T20 World Cup.
Rohit will helm the team as skipper, but Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav will miss out due to injuries. These T20 matches against Afghanistan are India’s sole international fixtures ahead of the 2024 World Cup in June.
Ravindra Jadeja, previously a vice-captain in the T20I series against South Africa, isn’t in the current squad, while Sanju Samson, earlier left out, has been included this time. Shivam Dube, absent in South Africa, was part of the Australia T20I series. Fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah are rested and might rejoin the Test squad against England.
The upcoming three T20Is against Afghanistan are scheduled for January 11, 14, and 17 in Mohali, Indore, and Bengaluru, respectively.
