India announced a multi-format series against South Africa women in June-July featuring a Test match, three ODIs, and three T20Is.
The Indian women’s cricket team will gear up for the upcoming T20 World Cup with a home series against South Africa. The tour, scheduled for June and July 2024, will feature a one-off Test match, three ODIs, and three T20Is.
According to a Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) official, Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium will host the ODI leg of the series, starting from June 16th. Meanwhile, the historic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will be the venue for the Test match, beginning on June 28th. Following the Test, the teams will return to Bengaluru for the T20I matches scheduled for July 5th, 7th, and 9th.

This multi-format series will serve as crucial preparation for the Women’s T20 World Cup scheduled for September-October in Bangladesh. Originally planned for late 2023 as part of the ICC Future Tours Programme, the white-ball matches were rescheduled due to the ICC Men’s World Cup held in India last year.
Significantly, the Test match is a new addition to the series, reflecting a joint effort by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) to promote women’s Test cricket. This follows India’s successful outings against England and Australia in December 2023, where they secured dominant victories in both Test matches played in Mumbai.
