In an outstanding display, the Indian women’s cricket team clinched an extraordinary 347-run victory against England in a one-off Test at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. Deepti Sharma emerged as the star, securing a remarkable 9-wicket haul. This monumental win surpassed Sri Lanka’s previous record of a 309-run win over Pakistan in 1998. Notably, it was India’s first Test victory over England at home.
Deepti’s exceptional performance featured a solid 67-run contribution in India’s initial total of 428, followed by a mesmerizing 5.3-4-7-5 spell, aiding India in securing a substantial 292-run lead. Continuing her brilliance, she claimed 4/32 in the second innings, narrowly missing a 10-wicket match haul, similar to the legendary Jhulan Goswami’s remarkable feat.
On Day 3, England’s struggles continued as they collapsed for 131 in 27.3 overs. India seized all 10 wickets in the morning session. The hosts, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, set an imposing target of 479, declaring overnight at 186/6.
Initially, England’s openers looked steady against Renuka Singh and Sneh Rana until Singh dismissed Beaumont.
