India secured their sixth consecutive victory in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 by defeating England with a convincing 100-run margin in Lucknow, where India posted 229/9 while England managed only 129.

Rohit Sharma’s Indian team extended their winning streak in the ongoing World Cup, beating England by a convincing 100-run margin in Lucknow. Rohit led the team with an 87-run contribution from 101 balls, guiding India to a total of 221/9 on a challenging pitch. England struggled to counter India’s bowling, led by Jasprit Bumrah, and were all out for 129 in 34.5 overs.

England chose to bowl first after winning the toss in Lucknow, restricting India to 229/9 in 50 overs. Although England had a solid start in their chase, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Dawid Malan and Joe Root in consecutive balls during his third over. Mohammad Shami swiftly took Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow. Later, Kuldeep Yadav bowled a fantastic delivery to remove Jos Buttler, and Shami got rid of Moeen Ali on his return spell.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma provided India with a quick start, but wickets fell at regular intervals on the other end, including the surprising dismissal of Virat Kohli for a duck, his first in a World Cup match. KL Rahul joined Rohit to steady the ship and added 91 runs. Rohit, in the process, crossed 18,000 international runs and notched up a half-century. The partnership ended when Rahul fell to David Willey in the 31st over. Suryakumar Yadav contributed 33 runs for the fifth wicket with Rohit, who fell just 13 runs short of a century. With a lower-order partnership, India managed to reach 229, thanks to valuable contributions from Ravindra Jadeja and Suryakumar Yadav, who narrowly missed a half-century. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav then brought India to the brink of England’s target of 230.
