Sachin Tendulkar is making a comeback to cricket by participating in the International Masters League (IML), a new T20 tournament. This annual event will feature legends from six cricketing nations: India, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, England, and Sri Lanka. The tournament aims to revive classic rivalries and showcase the skills of some of the game’s greatest players.
Sunil Gavaskar will serve as the League Commissioner. Matches will be held in Mumbai, Lucknow, and Raipur, providing a platform for these cricketing legends to shine once more.
Tendulkar highlighted the growing popularity of cricket, especially T20, which has attracted new fans and reignited interest in classic matchups.
“Cricket continues to grow in popularity not just in India, but across the world. In the last decade, T20 cricket has accelerated its adoption and has drawn new fans into the game. There is now a strong desire among fans across ages, to re-witness age-old battles in newer formats,” News18 quoted Tendulkar as saying.

Widely regarded as one of the game’s greatest batsmen, Tendulkar believes that athletes never truly retire. He feels that the competitive spirit remains strong within them, driving their desire to play. With this initiative, the legendary opener hopes to inspire both players and fans alike, making cricket more thrilling for everyone involved.
“Sportspersons never retire at heart and the competitive streak within waits for an opportunity to get back on the field. We have conceived the International Masters League as a meeting point for passionate fans and competitive cricketers,” he shared.
“I am certain all players participating will get back into the groove and prepare hard. When we represent our countries, we all want to play top-quality cricket and try to win,” Tendulkar concluded.
