Despite Rishabh Pant’s resilient half-century, Kolkata Knight Riders extended their winning streak with a resounding victory over Delhi Capitals in Vizag, clinching a win by 106 runs.

In a powerful display against the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024’s 16th match, Sunil Narine’s explosive 21-ball fifty set Kolkata Knight Riders on a roaring start at Vizag. Despite a shaky start with Philip Salt’s dismissal, Narine’s relentless onslaught led to a career-best 85 off just 39 balls.

While skipper Shreyas Iyer struggled, power-hitters like Andre Russell (41), Rinku Singh (26), and newcomer Angkrish Raghuvanshi (54) joined the rampage, propelling KKR to a monumental total of 272-7 in 20 overs. Even though Ishant Sharma’s pinpoint yorker briefly halted Russell’s quickfire, KKR’s total stood as the second-highest in IPL history, thanks to Russell and Rinku’s explosive contributions.

Delhi Capitals entered the match with a prior win but needed another victory to build momentum. Unfortunately, their bowling, previously economical, leaked over 80 runs during the Powerplay, setting the tone for a disastrous outing.

The batting lineup faced a daunting task, with early dismissals including Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell Marsh’s continued struggles. Abishek Porel’s dismissal for a duck and David Warner’s failure added to their woes. However, Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs provided glimpses of brilliance with their half-centuries. Despite individual efforts, Delhi’s collective performance faltered.
