Chennai Super Kings secured a 63-run win against Gujarat Titans in Match 7 of IPL 2024, marking their second consecutive win and continuing the trend of home teams dominating.

In match 7 of the IPL 2024 between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans at M.A Chidambaram Stadium, Gujarat chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Rachin Ravindra showed promise early on, scoring boundaries in the powerplay. However, his aggressive approach led to a stumping by Wriddhiman Saha, providing Gujarat their first breakthrough.

Despite Ajinkya Rahane’s struggles, CSK’s skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad accelerated the scoring. Rahane fell to spinner R Sai Kishore, stumped again by Saha. Gaikwad was also caught behind off Spencer Johnson’s delivery near the 40s.

Shivam Dube provided momentum with consecutive sixes and reached a quick fifty but was dismissed by Rashid Khan in the death overs. Sameer Rizvi, making his debut, hit two maximums but was dismissed by Mohit Sharma as CSK set a target of 207 runs.

In the second innings, Chennai’s bowling effort shined brightly, with Deepak Chahar leading the charge by breaking through early, dismissing Shubman Gill and setting the tone. Daryl Mitchell’s inclusion paid off as he removed Vijay Shankar, aided by a spectacular catch from MS Dhoni.

Gaikwad managed his bowlers effectively, with Mustafizur Rahman and Tushar Deshpande excelling in the death overs, supported by Matheesha Pathirana. Gujarat, chasing a hefty target, faltered early with Gill’s dismissal, despite Wriddhiman Saha’s brief onslaught. Sai Sudharsan and David Miller stabilized momentarily, but Miller’s wicket shifted momentum. Subsequent collapses saw Gujarat tumble from 96/3 to 121/7, ultimately falling short at 143/8, succumbing to a comprehensive 63-run defeat.
