Ramandeep Singh of Kolkata Knight Riders has been fined 20% of his match fees for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during their match against Mumbai Indians.
Ramandeep Singh, representing Kolkata Knight Riders, incurred a 20% fine on his match fees for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the IPL 2024 match versus Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens. IPL officials stated that Singh breached a Level 1 offense under Article 2.20 of the code. Ramandeep acknowledged the violation and accepted the penalty imposed by the match referee.
Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct addresses instances of misconduct involving the abuse of cricket equipment, clothing, or ground fixtures during matches. This includes actions outside typical cricket maneuvers, such as hitting or kicking the wickets or causing damage to advertising boards, boundary fences, dressing room doors, mirrors, windows, and other installations.
While Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct result in the match referee’s conclusive decision, the board hasn’t specified the offense for which Ramandeep was fined.
In the rain-affected match between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders, KKR batted first, posting 157 runs for 7 wickets in 16 overs. Mumbai Indians managed only 139 runs for 8 wickets in response, marking their 9th loss in 13 matches. Varun Chakraborty and Andre Russell emerged as KKR’s heroes, each claiming 2 wickets.
With this win, KKR now holds 18 points from 12 matches, while second-placed Rajasthan Royals have 16 points. Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants are tied with 12 points each.
